Harvesting Hawthorn!: Our Local Heart Remedy

Hawthorn is among the top 5 most clinically researched plants. For good reason — it is an effective and valuable medicine for the heart. From simple cardiac maintenance to high blood pressure & cholesterol, to coronary heart disease; the mighty Hawthorn has proven to be an effective remedy across the board.

Hawthorn is ripe with it’s signature red berries right now, and it’s perfect timing to identify and harvest these for the year!

In addition to identification, we will discuss what makes Hawthorn such a potent heart remedy, different ways in which to process or prepare it medicinally, as well as Hawthorn’s more supportive roles in other herbal formulas.

Please join us for another informative herbal journey! We will meet in the parking lot of the Cedar Grove area in Bidwell Park, next to the Nature Center at 5:30pm. Be prepared for a short stroll, with pen and notebook in tow.

As always, bring a container for a truly ‘heart warming’ cup of tea. All ages welcome. Donations kindly appreciated.
