Please join us for a special Midsummer's Night Medicine Walk in magical Verbena Fields this Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00pm in honor of Summer Solstice.
Our Guide will be Ali Meders-Knight; an amazing local Herbalist, Basket Weaver, Mechoopda tribal member, Mother, Activist for Human rights, ecological resources, and for Mechoopda Occupied Territory.....that is "Chico"!
I have been personally inspired many times over the years by Ali's presence and activism in our community on small and large scale, and over a wide range of issues affecting our people and land. Issues that are not pretty or light.
I am honored to have her host this walk, as she has a direct connection to Verbena Fields and the plants, trees, and herbs that grow there. Over a decade ago, Ali personally worked to restore Verbena Fields and the channel with native plants --working with children in a program she started called "Kids and Creeks".
A lot of these plants are useful medicinal herbs, and I feel a strong gratitude every time I walk through Verbena Fields....it is truly a powerful, and lovely place in our community, thanks to those efforts.
Come join us this Thursday evening for a truly amazing medicinal plant walk, and a history on Verbena Fields, our native plants and their medicinal and practical use.
We are asking any amount of monetary donation to offer to our Guide. Please bring a notebook, pen, water, and a snack if you'd like. We will meet at the entrance of Verbena Fields promptly at 6:20, and start the walk at 6:30. All are welcome.
